Team Profile

Brett Griffin and Sam Fordham started Griffin Motorsport in 2005. Based in Royston, Hertfordshire, the team began by purchasing a Vauxhall Astra GTE.

Bretts first event was the Essex Charity Stages 2005. With Brett behind the wheel and Sam heading up the service team, Griffin Motorsport took on its first event. After a series of suspension problems it was clear the astra needed some serious work carried out on it to make it strong enough to survive the strain of rallying.

Soon Sam dropped his spanners and jumped in the co-drivers seat. The pairs first event was at the infamous Longcross test track in Surrey. The team finished the day with a few minor problems but enjoyed themselves thoroughly and caught the rallying 'Bug'.

What started as a hobby developed into a passion and all available spare time was used to turn the car into a full Group N spec stage rally car.

Success was limited with this car due to its lack of power against competing cars in their class and more experienced drivers. By the end of the season with many a lesson learned, the team purchased a more competitive car.

Although in a lower class than the Astra, the Peugot 106 GTi group A rally car was more competitive against the other 1600cc cars. The 106 was an ex Peugeot-sport built Cup car that rallied in the highly competative 106 Cup Challenge. Being a purpose built rally car it is very strong and has never let them down. On their first outing the team returned to the infamous Loncross test track and achieved a 2nd in class and from then on the team went from strength to strength.
